The Best High Impact Sports Bras

The best high impact sports bra for most people is the Nike Indy High Support: it is rated high support, has adjustable straps and a hook-and-eye clasp, and costs about $55. For a medium to large bust, the Brooks Dare is an underwire that goes up to a G cup. For DD and up, look at the Panache Power Wired.

We kept this list to five because only five bras in our data carry a high support rating. We did not pad it with medium-support bras that happen to be popular. If you jump, sprint, run or do plyometrics, you want a stated high-support bra, and you want to be able to adjust the fit.

We have not tested these. The list comes from brand specs and what owners and reviewers keep saying. Prices are list prices and change often, so check the current price before you buy.

The Indy High Support is the most balanced high-impact bra we found. Nike gives it a high support rating, and the hook-and-eye clasp and adjustable straps let you set the fit rather than hope for it. The pads are built in and fixed. Sizes run XXS to XXL with a plus-size option.

On paper it suits running, HIIT, training and lifting. The page says at least 75% of the polyester is recycled, per the brand.

It lists at about $55, and the page showed about $44.97 when we checked. The trade-offs: alpha sizing only, so no cup sizes, and reviews often say to size up if you have a larger bust.

Nike gives you 60 days to try a purchase, with free returns for members. Skip it if you need cup sizing or an underwire. Read the Indy review.

Best underwire for C to G cups

Brooks Dare Underwire Sports Bra

If a regular compression bra does not control bounce for you, an underwire may. The Dare has individual underwire cups, a hook closure and adjustable straps, which can be worn as scoopback or crossback. Cups run C to G, and a retailer lists bands from 32 to 44.

Brooks backs it with its Run Happy 90-day trial, per the page, so you have time to test the fit.

It lists at $75, with a sale price of $45 when we checked. The trade-offs: the page does not list fabric, black was sold out, and a few reviewers mention straps coming loose and the hook bending. The sample is tiny, with 3.5 out of 5 from four reviews on one retailer.

Skip it if you prefer a thin, smooth pullover. Read the Dare review.

Best for DD and up

Panache Power Wired Sports Bra (5021)

Panache · Sports bra · $84 · 4/5

  • Women
  • Sizes DD+ (28-36+ bands per retailer listing)
  • Support: High
  • Cup sizes: DD+
  • Padding: Fixed
  • Closure: Hook
  • Plus sizes
Comfort4/5
Performance5/5
Durability4/5
Value3/5

The Power Wired is positioned for DD+ cups, with a high-support rating. A retailer lists band and cup combinations such as 28H to 36B, plus adjustable straps and a convertible J-hook racerback.

Be careful with the details. Panache's US page lists only the price ($84) and DD+ positioning. The silicone-wrapped wires and wide padded straps come from a marketplace listing marked AI-generated, and the closure is an assumption from retailer images. Treat those as unverified.

The trade-offs: thin product information, a price of about $84, and underwire is not for everyone. We found no official Panache return policy, so the rules of the retailer you buy from apply. Ask about returns before you order, since fit is hard to judge online.

Skip it if you prefer a pullover or are under DD. Read the Panache review.

Best budget adjustable

Gymshark High Support V-Neck Sports Bra

Gymshark · Sports bra · $56 · 4/5

  • Women
  • Sizes XXS-XXL
  • Support: High
  • Alpha sizes: XXS-XXL
  • Padding: Fixed
  • Closure: Hook
Comfort4/5
Performance4/5
Durability3/5
Value5/5

At about $56, the Gymshark V-neck gives you the same adjustable setup as the Nike Indy: adjustable straps and a hook-and-eye closure. It also has a built-in foam pad and a breathable front mesh panel (76% nylon, 24% elastane). Sizes run XXS to XXL in five colorways.

It is a reasonable high-impact choice if you want a second brand to compare against Nike.

The trade-offs: alpha sizing only, a fixed foam pad, and mixed reviews on bounce control that vary by bust size. That pattern is typical for alpha-sized bras, so a larger bust may do better with cup sizing.

Gymshark allows returns within 30 days of delivery, but lists underwear as non-returnable, so check whether bras are covered. Skip it if you have a larger bust. Read the V-neck review.

Best pullover

Gymshark Running Sports Bra

Gymshark · Sports bra · $58 · 3.8/5

  • Women
  • Sizes XS-XXL
  • Support: High
  • Alpha sizes: XS-XXL
  • Padding: Fixed
  • Closure: Pullover
Comfort4/5
Performance4/5
Durability3/5
Value4/5

Some people prefer a pullover with no hooks to fuss with. The Gymshark Running bra lists high support, with built-in foam cups, a padded apex and reflective details. The fabric is 78% nylon and 22% elastane, and sizes run XS to XXL in three colors.

At about $58 it is a fair price for a high-support listing.

The trade-offs: the page does not describe the closure or straps, so we assume a pullover with fixed straps, and we cannot confirm adjustability. There are no cup sizes or underwire, and sizes stop at XXL. Pullovers can also be harder to take off after a sweaty workout.

Gymshark's 30-day return window excludes underwear, so check the details. Skip it if you need adjustability or cup sizing. Read the Gymshark Running review.

How to choose a high impact sports bra

Look for the stated support level. Brands label support in different ways, so we rely on each brand's own rating. A bra labeled high support is built for running, jumping and similar movement. Medium-support bras, such as the Athleta Ultimate or Lululemon Energy, may feel fine for lighter workouts but are not designed for sustained impact.

Pick the right style for your bust. Compression bras flatten the chest and work well for smaller to medium busts. Encapsulation and underwire bras (Brooks Dare, Panache Power) support each breast separately, which many people with fuller busts prefer. In alpha-sized bras, owners often say to size up for a larger bust.

Prefer adjustability. Hook-and-eye bands and adjustable straps let you fine-tune the fit. In our data, the Nike Indy, Gymshark V-neck, Brooks Dare and Panache Power adjust. The Gymshark Running bra appears to be a pullover.

Check the straps. Wide, padded straps spread pressure. Reviewers of the Brooks Dare mention loosening straps in a small sample, so check the strap hardware when your bra arrives.

Use the return window. A high-impact bra is only good if it controls bounce for you. Brooks gives 90 days, Nike 60, and Gymshark 30 with an underwear exclusion.

Think about the rest of your wardrobe. A high-impact bra should work under what you wear. Racerbacks and crossbacks (Nike Indy, Brooks Dare, Panache) suit tank tops and open-back tops, while a V-neck front (Gymshark) suits a lower neckline. It is a small point, but it decides whether you will actually reach for the bra.

Replace it when it stops working. When the band stretches or the cups lose shape, support drops. Wash gently and air dry where possible.

Your own body changes too, so recheck your size every year or two, and whenever your weight or workout routine shifts a lot. Brands size differently, so do not assume a band size carries over between them.

How we picked

We have not tested any of these bras. We filtered our data for a high support rating, which left five bras, and we kept all five. We then compared closure, adjustability, cup and size range, padding, price and what owners commonly report. Ratings are editorial estimates, not lab results.

Our other lists show how medium-support bras compare. See our best running sports bras and sports bras for a large bust. Read the full process on our methodology page.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a high impact sports bra?

A high impact sports bra is built for activities with a lot of bounce, such as running, jumping and HIIT. Brands set their own ratings, so look for a stated high-support label, a firm band and, ideally, adjustable straps. In our data, five bras carry that rating.

Do I need an underwire for high impact workouts?

Not always. Many compression bras work well, especially for smaller busts. But if you have a fuller bust and still feel bounce, an underwire such as the Brooks Dare or Panache Power can give more control. Choose one with a generous return window.

Can I wear a high impact bra for yoga?

You can, but it may feel firmer and warmer than needed. For yoga, Pilates and lighter workouts, a medium or low-support bra such as the Lululemon Energy or Girlfriend Collective Harriet is usually more comfortable. Keep a high-impact bra for runs and jumps.

How tight should a high impact sports bra be?

Snug enough that the band stays level and does not ride up when you move, but not so tight that it restricts breathing. You should be able to fit a finger or two under the band. Adjustable straps and a hook closure make it easier to find the right fit.

Are Nike Indy bras good for running?

On paper, yes: the Indy High Support has a high support rating, adjustable straps and a hook-and-eye clasp. Reviews often say to size up if you have a larger bust. For cup sizing or an underwire, a bra like the Brooks Dare may fit better.
